Coach Agreement

Volunteer coaches are the backbone of youth sports in America. Without the thousands of adults and parents signing up to coach youth sports every season, youth sports world would come to a screeching halt. The PYFL strives to provide the best youth football coaches available to our student athletes. Our coaches are expected to place the emotional and physicaLwell-being of their players ahead0f a.personal desire to win in a safe playing environment. Coaches understand families come first, school second and extracurricular activities are third.  The PYFL expects all our coaches to be role models on and off the playing field at all times.

• Coaches will treat each player as an individual, remembering the. large range of emotional and physical development for the same age group.
• Coaches will respect the decisi;ns of parents regarding the student athlete’s need to devote more time to family and / or school.
• Coaches will practice appropriate principles needed to treat injuries of their players. Coaches will do their best to organize practices that are fun and challenging for all players.
• Coaches will lead by example in demonstrating fair play and sportsmanship to all players. Coaches will provide a sports environment for their team that is free of drugs, tobacco, alcohol and profanity and will refrain from their use at all youth sports events.
• Coaches will be knowledgeable in the rules of football, and will teach these rules to their players.
• Coaches will use coaching techniques that are appropriate for all of the skills they teach. Coaches will remember that they are a youth sports coach, and that the game is for children and not adults.
• Coaches will be respectful towards opponents and referees. Conduct yourself with honor, dignity, and self-control.
• Play the game for the fun of the game, the challenge, and the chance to show your best . Be gracious when you lose and generous when you win.
• Accept decisions ofreferees with class and dignity. Believe in their judgment and honesty. Any coach ejected from a game will receive a Big 14 League fine (approximately $200) and may be suspended from the next game.
• Any coach that is ejected from a game is responsible for paying any fines – not the PYFL. There are 4 home games. Each team will be required to help clean up the field at the end of 1 of those days.
• Coaches need to be at home games for the duration of the day and assist as needed.
• Any coach who is arrested or accused of illegal activity will be dealt with as swiftly as possible. A meeting will be sefiip with the coach and all involved persons as soon as possible. The PYFL board will decide what action (if any) should be taken based on the information in this meeting. The board decision will be final.
